About Us

Prairie County Arkansas’s Center Point Cemetery stands as a testament to the community’s enduring spirit and the deep bonds that connect generations. Our story began in the 1870s when the Hendricks family generously donated land to serve as a final resting place for our loved ones.

From its earliest days, Center Point grew out of the needs of the community. Before official records were kept, families gathered here to lay their loved ones to rest and support one another through times of loss. The earliest recorded burial dates back to 1862, though many unrecorded ceremonies took place before then.

The unique layout of the cemetery tells a story of resilience. On March 21–22, 1952, a devastating series of tornadoes tore through Arkansas, leaving destruction in their wake. Center Point Cemetery was among the many places affected, with the storm uprooting and scattering grave markers. The Hendricks family—who helped make Center Point what it is today—suffered unimaginable loss, as several of their own family members perished in the storm. In the aftermath, families did their best to restore approximate locations. To honor their efforts, we designated those sections as “Old North” and “Old South,” preserving their history. The sections established in later years are simply numbered 1, 2, and 3, ensuring that Center Point continues to grow while respecting the past.

More than a place of rest, Center Point Cemetery is a reflection of our community’s history, resilience, and shared commitment to honoring those who came before us. Through generations, we have come together in times of loss and remembrance, ensuring that this sacred space remains a place of peace and reflection for all.
